Thom Jones

How would you define yourself?

Director, trainer, speaker.

Thom Jones

Please describe yourself and your areas of interest.

Parent of two, partner of one, I own more bicycles than is reasonable, practice historical fencing and read books (often with dragons in). I am a freelancer, delivering training and conference talks. Every summer I run an international Programme in Cambridge and work on UK programmes for young people. The rest of the year I travel extensively for work from locations as far apart as Jordan to Rhyl, working in a variety of disciplines, in a variety of languages

Why did you become a Companion of the Guild?

My father is a keen Ruskinian. Obviously, this means I actively avoided knowing anything about Ruskin until adulthood. As a lifelong educator, reenactor and amateur historian, it became, increasingly obvious that most of the beliefs I hold dear had already been had and held by Ruskin and those that followed him. On looking into the work of the guild, I was hugely impressed and decided I wished to be a part of it. It does great work, which needs doing.
