Joseph David Rodrigues

Joseph David Rodrigues is a student and a believer in the importance of Ruskin today. He was educated in the United States of America in the field of Anthropology and continued his education by obtaining a Masters in Philosophy and a Masters in Theology with an emphasis on asceticism. His current academic work is in the pontifical degree of Licentiate of Sacred Theology with an emphasis on Church History and the ecumenical efforts between the Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches. Like most people, Joseph stumbled upon Ruskin by accident, being exposed to the Ruskin Art Club of Los Angeles. His dear friend and mentor, Dr. Gabriel Meyer, the Executive Director of the Ruskin Art Club, walked Joseph through some of the major works of Ruskin. Forever changed, Joseph has continued to study John Ruskin for both his personal development and his academic methodology. He is a board member of the Ruskin Art Club of Los Angeles and the editor of the Ruskin Today podcast.

Why did you become a Companion of the Guild?

I became a Companion of the Guild of St. George to help facility the ever-growing dialogue and collaboration between John Ruskin's international supporters. As a board member of the Ruskin Art Club of Los Angeles and a citizen of Portugal and Brazil, I feel that my involvement with the Guild has the potential to aid in an international Ruskin movement.
